Hi All,
We had another wonderful month helping children with cleft lips and palates! Six more children in September were given the splendid gift of a healed lip or palate through the generosity of our donors. We are so grateful to them for changing these children's lives forever!
We had 4 lip repairs at Anhui Children's Hospital and two palate repairs in Chongqing. Little Si was a child who particularly touched my heart this month. She had pneumonia last month and had to be hospitalized so she could heal. She recovered quickly under the care at the hospital and was finally able to have her surgery. Doesn't she look cute? Si came to the hospital somewhat thin but now has filled out beautifully. The individualized care, the extra nutrition and her surgery have helped set her up to thrive! I can't wait to see her adopted by a loving family.
Just one more month until our fourth cleft surgery mission begins in China. So many babies will get their chance at a new smile the first week of November. Stay tuned for more news on that!
